I will be writing an in depth piece with my views on this terminology divide in due course.

Google News on Electronic Medical Records is a great way to keep up to date with all you Electronic Medical Records news. You can subscribe to it via an RSS reader, such as Pluck (my favourite), or on your My Yahoo/MSN/Google page if you use one of those. You can also subscribe to other Google news streams such as Health Information Technology, or Soccer, or whatever floats your boat, really. Of course, I will be checking these news streams regularly myself and then bringing any interesting EMR related news to attention in this blog, with my commentary (and you can subscribe to My RSS Feed for that too). You have been warned!

EMR and HIPAA is a great Weblog discussing EMR news stories, vendors, implementation ideas and Health Information Technology in general. I do hope that the blog owner does not feel I am encroaching on their EMR turf! Just kidding, I'm sure we can co-exist peacefully, and even complement each other in terms of differing content. At the moment that blog is commenting on 50 reasons to get an EMR, currently on 1 through 13, and it's definitely worth a read.

A Physician's Electronic Medical Records Implementation Diary by a Family Physician practicing in Toronto, Ontario, is an interesting look into the trials and tribulations of implementing an EMR system. If you are currently thinking about purchasing and implementing EMR software, I would definitely recommend reading this blog from the start to take on some of their lessons learned.

That's all for now. I will be back in the not too distant future with some real EMR content! Stay tuned...

Welcome to my Weblog on Electronic Medical Records (EMR)!

Hello and a warm welcome to this Weblog on Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and the current news and issues that surround them!

This aim of this Weblog is to bring attention to and/or comment upon the latest news relating to EMRs, give opinions about what Electronic Medical Records should or should not be, and to generally provide information to help Physicians make a choice when they are researching the wide range of EMR products on the market.

Differing surveys have it that anywhere between 5% and 20% of US physicians have adopted an EMR system. Even fewer are actually in use, with many just collecting dust in the corner of the clinic, as a result of a poor purchase decision, a bad implementation effort, or lack of buy-in from the whole office. This blog will look to address these problems, and raise awareness of Electronic Medical Records news and information, in an attempt to bring about a higher adoption rate amongst physicians. If this happens, the physician will win in the "battle" against the insurance companies, and the patient will win as a result of an improved health service. More on this as this EMR Weblog progresses.

For further information on Electronic Medical Records, I can particularly recommend the Providers Edge EMR Website, where you will find FAQs and many excellent EMR related website links.

If you have any questions for now, please leave a comment below.
